​​UBC Gunn IMS Needling Review

The objective of Needling Review is to offer an opportunity to previously-certified Gunn IMS practitioners to revise all the certification course needling techniques as they are currently taught. We now also offer the opportunity to review all the current certification course theory material.

Current Needling Review dates and locations being offered are:

​Part 2:
Calgary – May 31 & June 1, 2025
Winnipeg – June 7-8, 2025
Toronto – June 21-22, 2025
London (England) – September 6-7, 2025
Vancouver – September 20-21, 2025

​Part 3:
Winnipeg – September 13-14, 2025
Calgary – October 4-5, 2025
Toronto – October 18-19, 2025
London (England) – November 1-2, 2025
Vancouver – November 15-16, 2025

Please note -    SPACES ON THESE COURSES IS LIMITED.  Places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Format

 In-Person Practical Sessions
Course attendees have the option to join one or both of the in-person Certification Course weekends (Part 2, Part 3 or Part 2 AND 3) and review the needling techniques for the muscles taught in the certification program as per the selected weekend, i.e., Part 2 muscles will be reviewed on the Part 2 weekends, Part 3 muscles will be reviewed on the Part 3 weekends.

Both Parts 2 and 3 are both two-day in-person courses.

Course hours are Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm both days.

Course fees include:
- in-person training as above
- a current course manual
- access to  the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy  videos for 12 months

Theory Review - Online 
These options provide access to the current Certification Course theory material.

Option A. The Four "Core" Lectures

i. Dr. Gunn's Neuropathic Model of Myofascial Pain  (presented by Cory Choma)
ii. The Effects of Dry Needling   (presented by    Lyndal Solomons)   ​
iii. Preparing to Treat   (presented by Dave Zelibka)
iv. The Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment   (presented by Lorrie Maffey)

Option B. Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials
i. Clinical Application of the Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment (presented by Lyndal Solomons) - this series of videos includes a demonstration of the neuropathic assessment on a model and related documentation using the current neuropathic assessment form, a discussion around clinical reasoning related to the model, and a discussion around treatment planning related to the model
ii. A fillable PDF version of the current UBC Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment Form you can use in your clinic charting
iii. Video presentations of two Instructor-Prepared Case Studies (presented by Susan Massitti and Mitchell Davis)

Eligibility

This course is only   available for those practitioners of Gunn IMS who:
  1. Have successfully completed certification training in Gunn IMS through     iSTOP or UBC   only
  2. Hold current registration to practise from their relevant regulatory college   AND
  3. Hold current malpractice insurance  (as detailed below)

Course Fees

Fees for Individual Components

1. Needling Review Part 2 - $500 CAD 

- includes:
  • 2 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

2. Needling Review Part 3 - $500 CAD 

​ - includes:
  • 2 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

3. The Four "Core" Lectures - $350 CAD

4. Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials - $150 CAD

Fees for Bundling Components

1. In-Person Bundle - Needling Review Parts 2 AND 3 - $900 CAD 

 - includes:
  • 4 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

2. Theory Bundle - The Four "Core" Lectures AND Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials - $400 CAD 

3. In-Person AND Theory Bundle - $1200 CAD

- includes:
  • attendance at both in-person sessions (Part 2 AND Part 3) and
  • access to all the online theory components (The Four "Core" Lectures and the Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials), as well as
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos
